The Robin Boyd Foundation Open Day (the first of four scheduled for this year) provides the opportunity to see five houses designed by Boyd for local artists all in close proximity in Warrandyte. Boyd’s parents Penleigh and Edith were both painters and the tour also features “The Robins” the house designed and built by Penleigh Boyd where Robin lived until 1922. The tour can be undertaken at leisure any time between 10am and 4pm, but if you want to go you are advised to book right away as numbers are limited and tickets are likely to sell out very quickly—see attached brochure for details.

Highly energetic and well-organised SPMers could fit in another interesting activity that runs between 10am and 12noon on the same day.

The Yarra Riverkeepers Association is running a walk-talk about the history of Studley Park providing interesting facts about “ old bridges, past floods, historic boat houses, lunatic asylums, geological features, pumping stations, mental asylums” and about “the native plants and animals, the current work to rebuild Dights Falls.” The talk starts at Kane’s Bridge at 10am and should finish around 12 noon. * Once again bookings are required—see phone number or e-mail in the attached. The YRKA is a community group established to raise awareness about and help protect the Yarra River—see http://www.yarrariver.org.au/home.html
